October 2013, Final Thesis Design Studio

Program of the Final Thesis Studio. The program was used as an excuse to activate a part of town which needs urban reconsideration. Thus, this can vary in size and shape, used to solve the urban problematic which each of the students find in that area. The difficulty is therefore that the students are asked to complete the program themselves: they search for the site of the project inside the given area. In the decision of the limits of the project and the way of occupying the area, are already implicit the qualities of the future project to develop. The students are required to demonstrate an attitude in relation to urban concerns and an own field of interests to develop the project.

Interests to be developed in the Studio:

Site: To work in the city where they are studying. Barcelona as the context to research and investigate its qualities, evolution, natural light, built environment…

Method: The value of the process, not to lose the steps in which the project is passing through, as a way to remember the things that they have learnt through the year.

Historic: To know the evolution of the place in time, the past as a possible future for the project.

Design method: which mixes all different techniques at hand: collages, models, hand drawing mixed with computer drawings…

Dates: September to July, years 2008 to 2012.

Place: School of Architecture of the Universitat Internacional de Cataluña.
