Théatre des Variétés – Event to launch the Labo-Chantiers Variétés
29th September-1st October 2023
On the occasion of launching the renovation works of the former Variétés cinema, Bruxelles Laïque invited journalists, politicians, partners, local residents, neighbourhood committees, associative and cultural actors, and other citizens of Brussels to (re)discover the building before the construction starts on site, while lifting the veil on its project for this incredible place steeped in history.
The event was structured as follows:
– Visual and sound immersion in the former Théâtre de Variétés before its renovation.
– Presentation of the architectural design
– Explanation of Bruxelles Laïque’s vision
– Launching Labo-chantier (Variétés)
After the opening remarks, the invited public was equipped with audio headsets and divided into three groups. Each group wandered through the “staged” building to reaching one of the three stations: Landing – Ship – Crew.
At each of the stations, the public attended an immersive conference on one of the three themes.
1. Landing Station: the Variétés and its district.
2. Ship Station: presentation of the model and the architectural project.
3. Crew Station: declaration of intentions from Brussels Laïque for this place “which we will perhaps call…”
