Following the successful experience of this International Summer Workshop, organized for many years in Porto by Rodrigo Costa and Amélia Brandão, and followed by the more recent Visiting programs in Mexico, France, Sweden and Switzerland, Porto Academy planned for this year Visiting Barcelona, a program of workshops combined with visits and lectures from 15th to the 22nd of July 2024.
As part of this program, Eva Prats and Ricardo Flores showed and explained the Sala Beckett building to a group of 90 students and tutors from more than 40 different nationalities. The tour covered the performance and theatrical teaching spaces that make up the entire educational plan of the rehabilitation made by Flores & Prats.
After the visit to the building, and inside the Porto Academy activities, Eva and Ricardo took part in the event WHAT IS A HOUSE FOR, a conversation/interview conducted by Riccardo Amarri, Mateusz Zaluska, and Matthew Bailey, around the domestic character of Sala Beckett’s spaces.
Finally, at the end of the collaboration with this year’s Porto Academy week in Barcelona, on the 18th of July 2024, Eva and Ricardo gave a lecture at La Salle Barcelona titled “Emotional Heritage”, focused on the social heritage contained in certain abandoned buildings that need to be cared after as much as their physical heritage.
