News March 2015, THOUGHT BY HAND workshop, Mextropoli, Mexico
Students worked on tables in one unique space at the Centro Cultural España, divided in groups of three to five students each. They were asked to work their proposals through hand drawings and study models, with the intention that all the works would be at sight for the rest of the class. At the beginning of the first day, Saturday 7th, we introduced the theme of the exercise to students and asked them to form the groups of work. After a complete day of work, at the end of this first day students were asked to present what they have already achieved so far, in order to organise how would they go ahead and finish their proposals for Sunday afternoon. The second day, Sunday at 2PM, all the students presented their works in a final review, putting their drawings and models against the walls of the room. Invited local architects came to the review to comment the proposals, some of them part of the project team of Infonavit, as architects Alejandra de la Mora, Victor Ebergenyi, Surella and Armando Hashimoto, and also the local architect Rozana Montiel, who is actually working on the area of San Pablo Xalpa with her architecture office.
